On 11 August 2019, great excitement was experienced amongst the young people who gathered at Erica East for the first Young People in Christ service, after the new boundaries were formed.
Bishop Neville Barron conducted the Young People in Christ service for the newly formed districts of Drift Sands and Athlone of the Cape Central Apostle Area.
For the first time in this area, a Bible reading took place after the Bible word. One of the young sisters, Carlen van Wyk from Silvertown Congregation did the Bible reading. Also a first for the area was that a moment of silence was experienced, instead of the hymn of repentance.
After the conclusion of the divine service and the choir’s final hymn, Bishop Barron encouraged the young people to introduce themselves and to get to know one another. Thereafter, he greeted the young people.
