On Thursday, 10 January 2013, with the year still relatively young, District Apostle N Barnes along with the Apostles from the greater Cape Town region met for a meeting in the Multi-media Room of the NAC Administration Office, Southfield.
Elsewhere to the east in the cities of East London and Port Elizabeth, and in the far north across the border, Katima Mulilo situated in the Caprivi, Namibia, the Apostles serving in these regions participated in the meeting via teleconference.
At the start the meeting the District Apostle echoed the proclamation of Chief Apostle W Leber on New Year’s Day: “The year 2013 is to be a year of profession!” Apart from the 150-year anniversary of the Church, the agenda covered, among many points, an in depth analysis of the goals set by the Apostles in their areas. The strategies to achieve these goals were outlined and discussed in the meeting.
With this gathering to kick-start the activities of the year, the stage is set for another momentous year that brings with it the visit of Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber to the Cape where he will conduct the divine service for the Departed on 3 March 2013. The Chief Apostle will be accompanied by Chief Apostle Helper Jean-Luc Schneider, District Apostles Andrew Andersen (Australia), Raúl Montes de Oca (Brazil) and District Apostle Helper Hans-Joachim Sobottka (Canada).
