On 27 October 2019, District Apostle J Kriel conducted a divine service in Welgelegen congregation. The sermon was also translated into the French language, and audio-visually transmitted to the French-speaking regions in Southern Africa.

This included congregations in the Indian Ocean Islands (Seychelles, Antananarivo, Rodrigues, Mauritius, Réunion and Mayotte), as well Maitland congregation in Cape Town, where a large percentage of the congregation speaks French. NACTV made history by using the Internet platform to stream via a CDN (Content Delivery Network) and simultaneously deliver the signal to the Satellite.

Weeks of preparation went into planning the logistics for the day, culminating in a full day of set-up on the Saturday before the divine service to ensure that everything would run smoothly for those present, and in the connected congregations.

The District Apostle was accompanied by Apostle R Worship, Bishops C Classen and N Barron. The retired District Apostle N Barnes, retired Apostles J Stephens and C Hendricks and the Rectors of congregations in the area were also in attendance.

The District Apostle used a word from Psalm 23:4 as a basis for the divine service; “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Apostle Worship and Priest J Kanyinda were called to serve along.

The Welgelegen congregation choir was joined by choristers from Maitland congregation. This allowed for French hymns to be added programme. The joyful singing of the Hymn “A Mountain Is Our Faith” served as a fitting way to conclude the divine service.

In concluding the transmission, the District Apostle informed the connected congregations that he plans to visit them in May 2020.
