On Sunday 24 November 2019, District Apostle J Kriel conducted a divine service for some of the 2020 confirmands of the Cape Coastal Apostle Area.

This divine service had a different dynamic because, for the first time, the Young People of the Apostle area were also invited to this special confirmands’ service.

The excitement among the young brothers and sisters was heart-warming. It was clear that they valued the divine service, as Tafelsig church was filled to capacity.

The atmosphere in the church hall was joyous; the congregation practised the after-service piece, In Him we live and move, with so much gusto, it felt as if the walls were vibrating.

As the basis for the divine service, the District Apostle read a Bible word from Matthew 14:29; “So He said, ‘Come’. And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.”

The Bible reading, done by one of the confirmands, was read out of John 12, verses 42-49.

The message to the confirmands was powerful, clear and easy to understand: Jesus knows each one of us by name, regardless of our different backgrounds and our failings. He calls us to give us salvation, to live and move with Him, and to serve Him with the gifts and talents placed within us. What is spiritually impossible on our own, Jesus will help us to achieve.

During the sermon, the entire congregation was invited to rise and say the Confirmation vow, which was done earnestly and in unison.
