It was a festive occasion when District Apostle J Kriel conducted the New Year's Day divine service on 5 January 2020 for the members of the Hex River District in the Hex River Senior Secondary School hall.
Members of the Hex River District, as well as the District Rectors of the Cape Winelands Apostle Area, were invited to attend this special divine service.
As the basis for the divine service, the District Apostle used the Bible word Galatians 5:1 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage."
In wishing everyone much blessing for the year ahead, the District Apostle further clarified the Chief Apostle's 2020 motto of " CHRIST MAKES FREE". He said: “Freedom in Christ is what we strive to achieve, but we need to free ourselves from the things that currently bind us. Christ frees us from sin, and we are to utilise all the gifts He provides to ensure our continued freedom in Him.”
Apostle M Diedricks and the District rector Priest J. Bronkhorst were called to serve along.
The divine service was concluded with a powerful rendition of "Praise my soul, the King of heaven" after which the District Apostle took time out to greet all members in attendance.
