On Thursday 17 September 2020, District Apostle J Kriel conducted a divine service in Dellville Park congregation, George.
He was accompanied by Apostle J Cronjé, along with Bishops I Adams and T Stephens.
A small congregation was also invited to attend the divine service. This was significant because it was the first time since 12 March 2020, prior to the start of the national lockdown, that the District Apostle was able to conduct a service where members were physically present, albeit without the celebration of Holy Communion. The service was also transmitted locally via the NAC George Facebook page using a mobile phone.
The Bible word for this divine service was taken out of Mark 10:49; "So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, 'Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you' ."
Before the conclusion of the divine service, the District Apostle placed Bishop Trevor Stephens, who served as a minister for 43 years, into retirement. The District Apostle used the opportunity to thank the Bishop, his wife, Moira, and their children for the labours of love and sacrifices throughout the years.
The District Apostle now makes his way by road to the Mpumalanga province, an approximate 1550 km journey, where he will conduct a divine service in Barberton congregation on Sunday 20 September. The Apostle Lionel Meyer will be placed into retirement during this divine service.
