On 19 September 2020, the Safeguarding Facilitators and presenters gathered at Dennekraal, Somerset West.

A few facilitators and presenters could not be in attendance, but such was the passion for this project that they connected via Zoom from London, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria.

After the initial pleasantries, the conference commenced with a prayer by District Apostle Helper M.P. Mkhwanazi. The programme director, Karl Muller, subsequently bid all a heartfelt welcome before the commencement of the weekend's programme.

Part of the programme included completing forms for a police clearance certificate – a vital document to serve the purpose of a Safeguarding Facilitator. This process was handled by Grant Heugh, from the South African Police Service, Cape Town. He volunteered to render this highly appreciated service to the group along with the local Apostles and Bishops.

As the programme unfolded, the following areas were covered:
• Job profile of Safeguarding Facilitator
• Introduction to Sexual Misconduct Policy
• Legal Principals
• Overview of the Sexual Misconduct Policy and Procedures
• Signing of non-disclosure document
• Children and sexual abuse
• Self-care and referrals
• Administration and summative assessment
• Course evaluation

On Sunday 20 September 2020, all the participants enjoyed a most blessed transmission divine service conducted by District Apostle J Kriel from Barberton congregation. Thereafter, the facilitators were issued with an accredited certificate of attendance.

Finally, the inevitable happened: a group of individuals who merged into a solid unit had to take leave of each other. Empowered to serve the affected, the delegates made their various ways home after a successful weekend.
