After weeks of intense preparation, the day finally arrived when the District Apostle could serve the members of Robertson West on Sunday 19 December 2021.

The congregation is situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands Apostle Area.

The District Apostle was accompanied by Bishop Leon Ravell. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance was restricted to only a few members. Therefore, the divine service was streamed live via Facebook for the members who could not attend.

The Bible word which was used as a basis for the divine service was taken from 1 Thessalonians 5 verses 6 and 11, ‘Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.’

The District Apostle brought a message of encouragement; that we need each other and need to pray for one another in order to attain salvation.

Bishop L Ravell and the Rector of Robertson West, Community Evangelist J Jacobs stood as proxies for the serving of Holy Communion for the departed.

Following this sacramental act, the District Apostle called the retired Bishops Killian and November, along with their wives, Hannie and Hillary, to the altar to receive their 50th wedding anniversary blessings. The congregation was truly blessed and enriched to have experienced this double anniversary blessing of 100 years of marriage. The District Apostle said that it is a special honour to be an instrument of God to bless the two couples who serve as great examples to him. The District Apostle thanked the Bishops and their wives for their example of the love for God.

After the divine service, the District Apostle wished the congregation a blessed festive period. This brought an end to a festive golden hour, but the impact of this divine encounter will live long in the hearts of the members.
