On Good Friday, 15 April 2022, District Apostle J Kriel visited the congregation of Vermaaklikheid.

Vermaaklikheid is a small settlement in the rural area of Riversdale District.

The District Apostle was accompanied by the local leaders, Apostle J Cronjé and Bishop I Adams.

The Bible word, as recorded in John 15: 13-14, served as basis for the divine service. After the Bible word, the choir contributed to the solemn and sacred atmosphere by delivering a soulful rendition of the hymn “Were you there?”

The sermon focussed on the essence of the Triune God, being that of love, as well as the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, being the ultimate expression of God’s love for mankind. Congregants were also encouraged to reciprocate this love and to be true friends of Jesus by doing His will.

After the celebration of Holy Communion, the District Apostle also served the souls from yonder world. The local district rector and rector, Priests G Joseph and B Windvogel stood as proxies for the serving of the departed.

The choir closed the divine service with the rendition of the Afrikaans hymn: “Sing Hom ‘n loflied.”
