Avon, with its Welsh origin meaning river, was a flood with excitement when the congregation was privy to an unscheduled visit from District Apostle N Barnes.

The members there have last since experienced a visit from a district apostle in 1987.

District Apostle Barnes served the congregation with a word from Deuteronomy 30:11: “For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off.” Not only did the gathering strengthen their belief in Christ but it also widened the hard to remove smiles on their shell shocked faces.
While Holy Communion is a highlight in every divine service it was even more so special when the district apostle joined the serving ministers as they served the congregation.
A vast majority of the members in Avon has never seen the district apostle up close before and his visit this Wednesday, 23 April 2014, gave them an opportunity to introduce and greet one another after the divine service.
