Franschhoek, once a sleepy little country retreat outside Cape Town, is now renowned for its world -class vineyards and is home to some of the finest cuisine in the country.
The town on the outskirts of Cape Town is also better known as the French Quarters of the Cape.
The town also made headlines with the members of the Cape when Chief Apostle Schneider on his visit to the Mother City, along with the District Apostle and Apostles of the Cape, visited the region. En-route they spent time with the members of the nearby Klapmuts congregation.
This time it was the turn of District Apostle N Barnes to commute to the town for a divine service. His visit to Franschhoek on Sunday 25 May 2014 was even more special for the thirteen confirmands who waited for this special moment in their lives. They might not have been among the first group to join the ranks of the youth this year since the confirmation season started, but being the last, certainly did little to detract from the joy of their special day as confirmation was rounded-off for this year.
During the latter part of the divine service the District Apostle invited them to the altar where they made their first commitment to God as understanding adults. This year they formed part of close to four thousand newly confirmed youth who began their independent journey of faith in the Cape District Church.
Then another exciting spiritual adventure awaits them. They were introduced and welcomed into the ranks of the youth when divine services for young people took place throughout the Cape on the first Sunday of June.
