A hive of activity is visible at Cape Town International Airport after divine service on Ascension Day, Thursday, 29th May 2014. The Cape Town Male Choir is checking in for their flight, the first leg of their journey to Munich. They are on their way to the Olympia Park in Munich where they will feature on the programme of the historic International Church Convention (ICC) of the world-wide New Apostolic Church.
While the travellers are attending to the check-in formalities for their flight, more and more people arrive. These are the families, friends and members who have come to see their loved ones off on their epic journey. Everyone looks happy. For the travelling group, months of preparation have now reached its peak. Finally, they are on their way. But, not before entertaining the gathered send-off party with some of their familiar songs. All around heads are turning towards the harmonic sounds of the group. Cameras are clicking and flashing, video cameras are rolling, as onlookers capture the special show by the singers. Happy faces are seen all round. An appreciative applause rounds -off the proceedings. It is time to say good-bye. A mixture of emotions is visible as loved ones hug, kiss and embrace. Not one from the send-off group is moving as the travellers pass through the check-point. A last look back and a wave take them out of sight as they move towards the security check-point gates. Inside the departure terminal everyone is happy for the touring group as they make their way to the first-time ever ICC of the New Apostolic Church.
The motto for the ICC is: “For indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you”. In alignment with this motto a variety of events have been planned which range from musical activities, to current issues, to workshops and missionary work. The official opening ceremony for the ICC will take place on Friday 6th June 2014 in the Olympic Stadium, Munich, Germany. The event climaxes on Sunday, 8 June 2014 when Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider conducts the Pentecost divine service in the Olympia Park. The divine service will be beamed live around the world.
Before and after the ICC the Cape Town Male Choir will present a number of concerts in various cities around Germany.
