District Apostle N Barnes visited the congregation of New Orleans in Paarl on Sunday, 6 July 2014, where he conducted the divine service for the departed.

The longing of the gathered congregation of more than 1300 to be served with word and sacrament, was tangible. The District Apostle based the divine service on Acts 7: 59-60. “And they stoned Stephen as he was he was calling on God saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep”. The central theme of the divine service focussed on how we as Christians should allow the Holy Spirit to be more active. This as a result will allow the love of Jesus to find its expression within us.The soul-soothing music rendered by the choir and orchestra throughout the divine service contributed to the reverent atmosphere. Apostle Thompson and Bishop Bucchianeri served as proxies for the dispensation of the holy sacraments to the departed souls.Accompanying the District Apostle was Apostle P Thompson, as well as Bishops J Cronje, F Flores, A Hans, G Kotze, K Schoeman and J Bucchianeri. A delegation from Germany representing Kids 4 Africa, also attended the divine service. The charitable organization, Kids 4 Africa, coordinates fundraising efforts in Europe for children in Africa.
