A festive congregation of Hazeldene in the Rocklands Bishop Area awaited the serving of God through the District Apostle N Barnes on Wednesday 6 August 2014.

The District Apostle served the congregation out of the Gospel of Matthew 15: 28 “Then Jesus answered and said to her, ‘O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you, as you desire.’ And her daughter was healed from that very hour.”  The congregation was encouraged to seek the Lord faithfully under all circumstances like the woman in the biblical text.  Those present were in awe of the spiritually inspired word that touched their hearts.

The District Apostle at the start of the divine service made reference to a section in the Catechism under the heading “God is perfect”. He went on to explain the greatness of our perfect God which cannot be improved upon.  This great perfect God is the God we worship, praise and seek.  This illustration of the greatness of God made a huge impact on the spiritual atmosphere in the hall and opened up the desire to take the advice given through the word.  One could sense the spiritual desire to put aside any doubts regarding the abilities of God and to seek a relationship of trust and humbleness with God.

The District Apostle was supported in serving by the soon to be retired District Elder L Petersen and District Evangelist E Roberts.  The congregation was also blessed by the appointment of two Rector Helpers as a support to the Rector to work in the congregation.  At the conclusion of the final choir anthem the District Apostle afforded the children of the congregation an opportunity to sing.  Their anthem in Xhosa, Thank Ye the Lord brought great joy to the congregation as it was an appropriate finale to a spiritually inspired moment with God.
