A full schedule was the order of the weekend for District Apostle N Barnes who was in the Southern Cape on the weekend of Friday 22 to Sunday 24 August 2014.
The District Apostle was joined in the region by Bishops P Lambert and N Barron, together with Apostle Brian Swartbooi and local Bishops L Lakey and T Stephens. In the group accompanying the District Apostle was also a music group from the administration office. On Saturday morning the District Apostle hosted a meeting for the retired ministers from George and Knysna Bisbop Areas in the congregation of Parkdene where he took the time to discuss the topic: The Church of Christ. While the meeting took place at Parkdene, provision was made for the retired ministers who were unable to attend the session at the church due to ill health. The visiting Bishops P Lambert and N Barron visited them at their homes to spend special moments with them and for soul care visits. After the meeting, the District Apostle and retired ministers enjoyed fellowship while being treated to a light lunch. Elsewhere, the music group made their way to Knysna where they hosted various classes in many congregations for all conductors and organists of both Knysna and George Bishop Areas. The local music leaders valued the opportunity to meet their guests and expressed their gratitude and appreciation to be trained to improve the level of music. Later the afternoon the District Apostle invited youth facilitators of the area to meet with him to discuss youth matters. The excitement amongst the vibrant group of young people was electrifying and they expressed their gratitude for the opportunity they received to interact with the leader of the church in the Cape.On Sunday 24 August 2014 the members of Concordia West, Harkerville, Hornlee and Kranshoek congregations gathered in the Knysna High School hall for a special divine service. The festive congregation waited in anticipation for this visit and it was evident that much preparation had been made for their time together. Musical items were rendered by the choir, the orchrestra and the Sunday school children which brought much delight and joy to all present. The District Apostle based the divine service on Isaiah 50:10, “Who among you fears the LORD? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness And has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely upon His God.”For the congregation the message was clear-Trust God in everything you do and in every situation that comes your way.
